SALAMANDER of LYMINGTON - FEATURED in YACHTING WORLD DECEMBER 2014
Salamander of Lymington was featured in the 2014 December issue of the international magazine Yachting World.
The article was a main feature covering over 8 pages.
We were approached by Berthon, who asked if we would be happy for Yachting World to get in touch with us in connection with an article they were proposing, regarding refitting and restoring yachts. Berthon Lymington Marina is where we found Salamander and where Salamander was extensively restored and refitted in the yard.
We were interviewed by the journalist one morning on board Salamander. Later on we prepared Salamander for a photo shoot sailing in the Solent with the well known marine photographer Paul Wyeth. Paul spent some time on board Salamander and some time on board a RIB circling Salamander to get some fantastic photos, some of which can be seen on this web site.
Many of the photos used in the article however were taken by Julian White.
The cover stated "Better than a new boat? Rules for a first class refit."
The 8 page feature article started on page 22 with a double page photo spread taken by Jules, who was using an extending 4 m pole to hold the camera by hand, whilst underway in the North Atlantic, between the Azores and Lymington. Clearly Yachting World thought it was a great photo.
This is page 22 and 23, a double page spread where you can see the extending pole. it is difficult of course not to include yourself in the photo.
